HEALTH: PROVIDE CLEAN WATER TO 250,000 PEOPLE IN SOUTH SUDAN
Access to drinking water in Kajo-Keji, South Sudan is a problem because women walk over 2 miles to fetch water from surface water sources. which are often infested with diseases such as giardia, cholera, and amoeba. Drilling borehole or using chlorine to treat the contaminated water before consumption would reduce the spread of waterborne diseases. Educating women and children on the benefits of clean water could save families medical expenditure and re-direct limited economic resources towards child education. This project will address the problem associated with clean water in the short term by providing communities with portable chlorine to leverage the availability of salt in South Sudan which is a key ingredient for making chlorine.

EDUCATION: FUND RAISING FOR KAJO-KEJI HIGH SCHOOL(SOUTH SUDAN) SCIENCE LABORATORY
Kajo-Keji High School is a mixed Girls’ and Boys’ school, located in Kajo-Keji, South Sudan. It is a newly established high school that is providing educational opportunities to many young people in South Sudan. However, the school faces major huddles such as lack of textbooks and laboratory equipment which greatly hinders the students’ learning. This January, SSKANA donated textbooks to Kajo-keji High School which was well received by the students’ and teachers. Our goal is to help facilitate the establishment of a Science Laboratory( please see list of laboratory equipment for Kajo-Keji High School to enable science demonstrations.

SPORTS: YOUTH SPORTS ACTIVITIES
Sports play an essential role in youth development which has a positive impact on academeic performance, self-esteem, social behavior and physical health. Many kids are unable to partake in sports activities because they do not have access to sports facilities such as uniform, shoes or personal proctective equipment. This project will encourage youth, both girls and boys to participate in sports.

HEALTH: GIVE 53,000 TEENAGE GIRLS ACCESS TO REUSABLE SANITARY PADS IN SOUTH SUDAN
Education of 53,000 teenage girls in Kajo-Keji, South Sudan is threatened simply because they experience menstruation. Menstruation results in missed school days and poor education performance or dropping out of school. Affordable and hygienic disposable sanitary pads cost more than the monthly income of most South Sudanese. The only option left to most girls is to use unhygienic rags/clothes which compromise their health in an area with limited health services. Providing free access for reusable sanitary pads through out-patient clinic. In this project, we will provide reusable sanitary pads that can be made locally in South Sudan. which will eliminate missed school days and promote girls’ education. Due to the low cost of local material, we can make 5 pads at a cost of $5.

EDUCATION: SUPPORT KUKU DISTANCE LEARNING
As immigrant communities increase around the world, many hospitals, schools, offices and healthcare providers are increasingly confronted with language and cultural challenges that can interfere with service delivery and lead to calamitous errors in diagnoses and treatment regimens. Children of South Sudan origin born in diaspora experience language barrier with their families who speak only Kuku. The increase in international trade and business, tourism, immigration and study abroad, chances are you might encounter someone who does not speak English. We reach our target goal, SSKANA will be able to reach 400-2000 people in the United States.
